A 42-year old Amish man from Canton Missouri was killed yesterday afternoon when the horse drawn buggy he was driving was rear-ended on highway 61 just south of Canton.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports  a utility truck driven by 52-year old Michael J. Fulton of Williamstown was northbound attempting to merge into the exit lane from highway 61 to highway 16 when the truck rear-ended a northbound Amish buggy driven by 42-year old Chris Yoder of Canton.  Yoder was thrown from the buggy and pronounced dead Thursday evening at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Yesterday’s accident happened at 4:35 in the afternoon.  Yoder’s death marks the 27th traffic fatality in the troop “B” area this year.

Fischer has been a member of the Iowa Wesleyan College Alumni Board of Directors since 2006.
