An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing five year old Poplar Bluff, Missouri girl who was abducted sometime overnight.

Authorities report a bi-racial girl named Abigail Berthoff was abducted  from the Poplar Bluff area near the Arkansas line in southeast Missouri sometime overnight between 10:00 last night and 6:00 a.m. today.

Authorities are currently looking for a 45-year old registered sex offender named Jeffrey Shelton, who is a suspect in the abduction.  Again, five year old Abigail Berthoff is bi-racial, has black hair and brown eyes.  Shelton is a white male, six feet tall, weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

Shelton is believed to be driving a silver 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with license plate number PJ8Z5M.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Berthoff or Shelton is asked to contact the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 573-785-5776.

Poplar Bluff is southwest of Sikeston, Missouri, just off Route 60.
