Van Buren County Hospital will host an Open House this Sunday to showcase a beautiful new two-story facility as an addition to their campus.

The open house will include a ribbon cutting ceremony Sunday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. to dedicate a brand new on-campus facility that will house a new Daycare and Pre-school for the community on the lower level, which will also feature a new kitchen.  Other amenities offered in the new building will be upstairs offices for the Job Opportunities Program, Parents As Teachers, the Healthy Villages program, a conference room, and a new Optometry office.

The event is open to the public, with tours available this Sunday (August 5th) from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M..

Rick Fischer is one of two original employees who started out at KMEM when the station signed on the air 30 years ago in 1982. Fischer currently serves as KMEM's News and Programming Director. Over the years Fischer and the KMEM staff have been honored by the Associated Press for contributing news stories, and by the Missouri State Teacher's Association for news coverage of education topics. Fischer was named in February of 2012 to the University of Missouri's prestigious Leader's Roll of Honor for his support of University of Missouri Extension programs. Fischer and the KMEM staff were recognized by Missouri Lt. Governor Joe Maxwell's office for their committment to volunteerism when KMEM was named Missouri's Number One Small Market Station of the Year a few years ago, in recognition of their committment to promoting Volunteerism. Fischer is a 1981 Graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, IA, where he graduated with a B.A. Degree in Theatre Arts/English and a strong background in Communications. Fischer has been a member of the Iowa Wesleyan College Alumni Board of Directors since 2006.
