Verna Brubaker

Funeral services for Verna B. (Horst) Brubaker, 86 of Rutledge, Missouri, will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Millport Mennonite Church south of Rutledge, Missouri.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Rutledge, Missouri.

Burial will be in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery south of Rutledge, Missouri.

The family requests no flowers, only your presence and prayers.

The Doss Funeral Home, of Edina, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.

Verna went to her reward, January 23, 2015, at her residence near Rutledge, Missouri. (She had a home on the Mark Martin property the past four years.)

She is survived by their eight children, Edwin and (Esther Hoover) Brubaker of Memphis, MO, Miriam and (Paul Reiff) of Mohnton, PA, Rachel and (Martin High) of Lebanon, PA, Ruth and (Edwin Horst) of Memphis, MO, Mary and (Mark Martin) of Rutledge, MO, Martha and (Marlin Martin) of Loyal, WI, Raymond and (Julia Hoover) Brubaker of Centerview, MO and Linda and (Ralph Burkholder), of Downing, MO; forty-eight grandchildren and one hundred-sixteen great grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Edith (widow of Jonas) Zimmerman of Lebanon, PA and Elizabeth (widow of Titus) Hoover of Lititz, PA. Two sisters-in-law, Grace (widow of Earl) Horst and Janis (widow of Irvin) Horst.

Jean Laird

Memphis, MO –  Jean Laird1924 – 2015

Funeral services for Jean Laird will be held Monday afternoon, Jan. 26, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pam Glasgow officiating. Interment will follow in the Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 1:30 until the time of the service.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Kathy) Laird of Burlington, IA, daughter, Beth (Mark) Grant of Colorado Springs, CO, four grandchildren, Stepahnie (John) Dodge of Burlington, IA, Darin Laird of Johnston, IA, Mark (Jennifer) Grant II ,Sarah Grant and fiance Chris Of Colorado Springs, CO and four great granddaughters.

Jean Laird passed away Thursday night, Jan. 22, at the Scotland county Care Center in Memphis.

Wayne Mattingly

Arbela, Missouri        -Wayne Mattingly –     1929- 2015

Funeral Services for Wayne Mattingly, 85, of Arbela, MO will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis. Interment will follow Memphis Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Payne Funeral Chapel from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 that evening.

Wayne Mattingly died Wed. afternoon, January 21, at the Bay View Medical Center at St. Petersburg, FL.

Survivors include his wife, Babe Mattingly of Arbela, his children, Terry Beyers of Arbela, Gale (Steve) Longworth of Chillicothe, MO, Mark (Janet) Mattingly of Memphis, Steve Mattingly of Arbela and Angie (Steve) Chance of Cantril, Iowa, 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, brother, Jim (Jody) Mattingly of Hannibal, two sisters, Wilma Cottrell and Norma Jones both of Anderson, IN along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial services for John C. Matlock, 86, of Memphis will be at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015,  at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pam Glasgow officiating. Inurnment will follow in the South Bethel Cemetery in rural Scotland County.

 John Matlock passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 21, 2015, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

Surviving relatives include his son, Tom Matlock and his wife Terry of Kahoka, MO; his daughter, Marjorie Savage and her husband Tim of Desoto, KS; a son-in-law, Steve Moffett of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Emily Lyons, Kevin Moffett, Timothy Moffett, Kris Speer, Tiffany Wood and Tara Fohey along with several great grandchildren, a brother, Gordon Matlock of Montrose, IA; a sister, Gwen Kesselring of Montroe, IA; and his longtime friend and companion, Lucille Triplett of Memphis along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and numerous friends.

Charlie A. Bunch

Fifty eight year old Charlie A. Bunch of Downing, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Tillie Bunch of Downing, Missouri; two daughters, Janice Bunch and Kyle Litchfield of Jackson, Missouri and Jamie Sprague and husband, Dale of Ennis, Texas; 3 brothers, Donald Bunch and wife, Melanie of Blue Springs, Missouri, Harry Bunch and wife, Karen of Marshfield, Missouri and Jerry Bunch of Springfield, Missouri; 1 sister, Ann Bunch and husband, Pat of Ava, Missouri; brothers and sister in law; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date as Charlie’s wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the family.

Marilyn Jean Cerven

Marilyn Jean Cerven, 64, of Coralville, Iowa, formerly of Gorin, MO, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville, IA.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 22 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Dave Barrett officiating.   Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Gorin Cemetery in Gorin, MO,  with Pastor Travis Cerven officiating.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Cerven, of Bemidji, MN, her son Travis (Diane) Cerven of Park Rapids, MN, one step-daughter, Jenifer (Jordan) Anderson of Akley, MN, six grandchildren, Kianna, Isaiah, Mikah, Megan, Daniel and Kate, three step-grandchildren, Savana, Danika and Natalie, one brother, Gary (Teresa) Creason of Kirksville, MO, five nieces and nephews, Whitney, Jordan, Colton, Brendan and Lauren and two aunts, Helen Wixom and Lois Wixom both of Keokuk,.

Memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.
