Dennis Baker

Funeral services for 68 year old Dennis Baker of Memphis will be at noon on Saturday, August 18, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Curtis Ebeling, pastor of the Lighthouse of Faith Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery.

Dennis Baker died Wednesday morning, August 15, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Visitation is prior to the service on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Gerth Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Cancer Fund or the family and can be left at or mailed to the Gerth Funeral Service, 115. S. Main St., Memphis, MO 63555.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, LaDonna, of the home; son, Ryan Baker of Memphis; daughter, Jessica and husband Patrick Mutchler of Kirksville; brothers, Harold and wife Linda Baker of West Burlington, IA and Tom and wife Marlys Baker of Altoona, IA; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial Chapel services for Delia “Dedie” Priebe of Memphis will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, Aug. 13. 2018 , at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Brother Jack Sumption officiating.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, from 5 to 7 that evening at Payne’s with the family present to recieve friends.

Dedie passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 7,2018,at the The Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

Visitation for 47-year-old Billy Joe Yearns of Downing, Missouri will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018 between the hours of 6-8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. A private burial will be at a later date at the Fabius Cemetery, east of Lancaster, Missouri with Pastor Leon Buford officiating.

Danny Welte passed away in Macon County, Missouri on Thursday, July 5, 2018.

Ronald Pantry passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, July 7, 2018.

Funeral services for Jasper (Jack) Smock, 78, of Farmington, Arkansas, formerly of Scotland County, will be held on Thursday, July 5th at 11 a.m. in the Gerth funeral chapel. Officiant will be the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post #4958 Post Commander Lloyd Erickson.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral chapel from 10-11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Coffey Cemetery, south of Downing, MO on Route A following the service with military graveside rites conducted by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post #4958.

Kenneth M. Colyer

Kenneth Marshall Colyer, age 98 of Kahoka, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home.

There will be no public services. At 98 and in poor health, he has outlived most of his friends, but had precious memories of a long life and the many people he cared for.

Funeral services for Harriet Louise Poole, of Chatham, IL, formerly of Memphis, will be at noon on Thursday, June 28, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, with Jack Sumption, pastor of the Memphis First Christian Church officiating.

Burial, with military honors provided by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial V.F.W. Post #4958 of Memphis, will be in the Memphis Cemetery.

Harriet Louise Poole died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Memorial services for Melba “Babe” Mattingly will be held Monday morning, June 25, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.

Babe Mattingly passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at her home under hospice care with her family by her side. As per her wishes cremation rites were accorded.

Visitation will be at Payne’s from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with the family greeting friends.

Surviving and keeping her memory alive is her sister Velma Gress Wade, her five children: Terry Byers of Arbela, MO, Gale (Stephen) Longworth of Chillicothe, MO, Mark (Janet) Mattingly of Memphis MO, Steven Mattingly of Arbela, MO and Angie (Steve) Chance of Arbela, MO; 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, plus special friends Gary and Pat Arnold and many others.
